NEW COMERS POST 1

Who: OPEN TO ALL
What: The first wave of newcomers arrive in the hospital.
Where: The Hospital, Center City
When: July 26
Warnings: Please tag any smut or triggers in the comment subject line.

The common room is just as brightly lit and white as the rest of the hospital. There are some scattered seats - large plush chairs and stiff looking couches, as well as wooden chairs at tables - and a TV blaring local soap operas in the corner. A few long tables are set up along the walls, each with a sign dangling down from the front to inform newcomers of what they can find here. Housing, job opportunities, and the Proxima Gamma Information Desk. Minus a few pamphlets about the unique attractions the island has to offer, there isn’t really that much of use on the last table. It’s clearly meant more for tourists than people who have been kidnapped.

Another set of tables hold a variety of snacks; fruits, vegetables, various candies, as well as a table with water, punch, and soda. No alcohol, unfortunately - this is a hospital, after all. You’ll have to leave to go find a bar for something stronger than that.

There’s not much place else to go - so come on in, settle down, and maybe find a familiar face, if you’re lucky.

He looked at the young man, wondering if the guy was still in school or not, then nodded in acknowledgement when he came over. There was a friendly smile because hey, Steve was just a friendly kind of guy -- until he didn't have to be. He held his hand out in greeting, both brows rising at the name. "Well, that's a bit of a mouthful. Can't say I've heard that before. I'm Steve. Steve Rogers." It was anyone's guess if this young man came from the same place he did. The recognition or lack thereof would clear that up. "Ah, mixer?" Sorry. Not a term he knew yet, Albus.

Albus took Steve's hand and shook it. By his accent he could tell he was American and the fact that he had never heard of either of Al's names meant he was most likely a muggle. Best to avoid revealing he was named after two rather famous wizard with a third equally famous last name.

"It's a tongue-twister that you can thank my Dad for. I usually just go by Al. Nice to meet you, Steve."

The confusion over the word 'mixer' made Steve more attractive. He had this funny way of turning his head when he didn't understand. Al had to keep from laughing nervously. There were more important things to worry about then cute guys.

"A party," Albus explained gesturing to those around them. "Everyone seems far too calm, especially considering we're meeting in a hospital. A hospital with vacation pamphlets I might add. Something doesn't seem right, that's all."

"Al. Definitely less of a twister." He gave the guy a smile, nodding along as he explained the term Steve was vague on. He was picking it up for the most part, learning the modern way of speaking, but there were still things he just hadn't heard of yet, or thought of as a euphemism. Don't mention fondue...

"I'll take calm over panicking. Panic gets people hurt. Not that I'll argue it's not still wrong, but this makes it a little easier to figure things out in before something happens and the panic kicks in. It all just feels a little surreal."
